NERP for Precision livestock farming offers a broad array of benefits. NERP recognizes these benefits and utilize technologies for disease identification and early warning mechanisms, contributing substantially towards the enhancement of animal health and welfare. It is essential for animal health to be prioritized. Various farms worldwide widely accept and successfully utilize many of these technologies, the current NERP Platform of PLF technologies includes: Economical methods for logging feed and water intake, Automated weight-measurement, Technology-based imaging, Animal-detecting systems, GPS-based tracking for extensive systems, Proxy technologies to record methane emissions, Electronic Identification (EID), and Advanced interpretation of data analytics. These technologies stand as evidence of constant innovation and refinement in the field of Precision Livestock Farming.
1) NERP enhances the accuracy of farming operations by optimizing input levels and maximizing production. Livestock farming profitability is increased by NERP Precision Livestock Farming's (PLF) ability to lower expenses and boost the total yield of animal products. The substantial economic benefits of precision farming are crucial for its promotion and increased uptake by farmers.
2) A significant advantage of NERP’s PLF platform is its ability to lessen the environmental implications associated with farming activities. Traditional farming methods contribute significantly to environmental challenges such as global warming and deforestation. Reduction of methane emissions from farms has been achieved using technologies; however, enhancing the productivity of farms is equally important.
3) The decline in the farmer population, coupled with the rise in the number of animals per farm, makes monitoring all creatures increasingly unmanageable for farmers. NERP PLF platform mitigates these challenges by decreasing the dependence on farm labor. Additionally, it provides farmers with easy access to crucial and trustworthy information. The introduction of automatic feeders and GPS-tracking eradicates the extensive requirement for numerous farmworkers. The reduced dependency on farm labor results in an increase in farm scalability.
NERP PLF Platform Possesses Significant Potential to Address Current Challenges in PLF has substantial capabilities in resolving prevalent issues of contemporary livestock farming. These include the escalating demand for livestock products, dwindling number of farmers, scarcity of land, and ecological concerns. Firstly, it boosts their production capacity and profitability. Secondly, it helps them to effectively manage their time by focusing on essential tasks. Furthermore, amid the fast-paced progression of technology and the pervasive utilization of big data analytics, NERP PLF offers a future where food security and animal welfare are always guaranteed.
